Privacy Policy
SoberDeck is built privacy-first. Your logs live on your device, there's no account, and we operate no servers that store your personal data. This policy explains exactly how that works.
Last updated: May 2026 · Applies to SoberDeck 1.0+
00 The short version
SoberDeck stores your sobriety logs on your device. We don't require an account, we don't run advertising or third-party analytics, and we don't sell or share your data. Optional iCloud sync uses your own private, Apple-encrypted iCloud database — not ours.
Because your sobriety is deeply personal, we designed SoberDeck to need as little of your information as possible. In most cases, the app never transmits your data anywhere at all.
01 Information we collect
SoberDeck does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials. You can use the entire app without telling us who you are.
Data you create in the app
The app stores the information you enter so it can function: your daily logs (date, status, drink counts, and optional notes), your goal and settings (abstinence or moderation, caps, baseline spend, reminder times, theme and icon choices, and your start date), and your earned milestones. This content is stored locally on your device and, if you enable it, in your private iCloud account.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect device identifiers for tracking, advertising IDs, location data, contacts, or behavioral analytics. The developer operates no server that receives your personal logs.
02 On-device storage
Your data is stored on your iPhone using Apple's on-device database framework (SwiftData). It is protected by your device's standard security, including device encryption and your passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID. The app works fully offline.
03 Optional iCloud sync
iCloud sync is an opt-in Premium feature. When you turn it on, your SoberDeck data is synchronized through Apple's CloudKit into the private database of your own iCloud account, so your deck stays consistent across your Apple devices.
- This data is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy and iCloud terms.
- The developer cannot read the contents of your private iCloud database.
- Sync is entirely optional. Leave it off, and your data never leaves your device.
04 What we never do
- We never show advertising in the app.
- We never embed third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
- We never sell, rent, or trade your data — there is no one to sell it to.
- We never require an account or login to use the app.
- We never put a paywall or upsell in the daily log, craving, relapse, or support flows.
05 Purchases & subscriptions
SoberDeck Premium is sold as an in-app subscription processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. We never see or receive your payment card details. Apple provides the developer with anonymized purchase and entitlement information needed to unlock Premium features and to handle restores. Your subscription is managed in your Apple ID settings. See Apple's terms for how the App Store handles your purchase information.
06 Notifications
If you enable reminders or milestone notifications, they are scheduled locally on your device by the operating system. They are not push notifications sent from a server, and they do not transmit your data. You can change or revoke notification permission at any time in iOS Settings; the app continues to work fully if you decline.
07 Sensitive data
Information about alcohol use and sobriety is sensitive. We treat it accordingly: it stays on your device by default, it is never used for advertising or profiling, and it is never shared with third parties for their own purposes. You decide whether to enable iCloud sync, whether to export your data, and whether to erase it.
08 Children's privacy
SoberDeck is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
09 Your controls
- Export. With Premium, you can export your data as CSV or a PDF summary and share it however you choose.
- Erase. Settings includes an "Erase all data" action that permanently deletes your logs from the device. This cannot be undone.
- iCloud. Turn sync on or off at any time. Disabling Apple's iCloud for the app stops cloud storage going forward.
- Notifications. Grant or revoke permission whenever you like in iOS Settings.
10 Third-party services
The only third party involved in normal use of SoberDeck is Apple, which provides the App Store (purchases), optional iCloud (sync), and the operating system (local notifications and device security). Your use of those services is governed by Apple's terms and privacy policy. SoberDeck includes a support screen with external helpline phone numbers; calling them connects you to those independent organizations under their own policies.
11 Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and, for material changes, note them within the app or on this page. Continued use of SoberDeck after an update means you accept the revised policy.
